Talking Top 10 reasons why an Rx7 is better then a Civic!

Got bored here at work, thought I'd make a little list:

10 - The Rx7 has, is, and always will be a RWD SPORTS car, not a sporty coupe like the Civics!

9 - We have a really cool buzz from our exhaust, and all a Civic can do is fart!

8 - I can turn around and not see another Rx7, however, upon a turn to left, right, rear, etc there is ALWAYS a Civic!

7 - Rx7s were never advertised as Low-Emissions commuting cars, and never will be!

6 - There are Rx7s holding land speed records, Civics have no such records!

5 - The Rx7 Turbos are some of the fastest cars coming out of Japan, when was the last time a Civic came turbo from the factory?

4 - When you tell somebody "I have an Rx7" and they say "Whats that?", it makes you feel special Everybody knows what a Civic is!

3 - Rx7s are more fun to play with on a skid pad, as the Civics normally just stick to the straight city roads.

2 - Rx7s don't have pistons!

1 - Rx7s are the only frequently found cars in the USA anymore with something that no other car (in the USA) has - A ROTARY! (this doesnt include the rx2,3,4s, etc or hybrids )

Got a list of your own?

Civic - designed as a fun to drive economy car with creature comforts, low cost, and quality engineering as the design goles.

Rx-7 turbo II - designed as an exoctic performance machine 1st, reliable factory racing car 2nd, and creature comforts 25th.

Nuff said.

Lets face the facts here...the Honda Civic was only created so that I could run my 86 TII with no emissions equipment. That way all the smog my cars are making can be offset by their low emissions/power

Yeah - I love the "strict" environmental rules the gov't is suppose to be inforcing.

Only a % of a manufacturer's lineup can have too much smog - and with all the SUV sales, they're WAY over that.

It's where they put creature comforts on their priority design list that matters - and they did a good job with them I have to admit - well except the GXL autosuspension.

Civics are really fun to drive. But really fun in a "high powered Metro" sort of way, not because they handle well or anything.

hey

I want a honda in the future. They can be stylish with good gas. I want a 1.5L crx with crazy body and huge speakers that cover the back completly. The thing about civics is that its such a cheap quality interior that you can customize it to what you like and use it for work or long trips. My 89gxl is a lot better quality feel even though you can get them for 1000 bucks thiers nothing I would want to change about it except the stereo.

Unricable look and interior.

smooth on highway and steering feels effortless.

I rev to 8000rpm quiet effortlessly but will be doing 9000 as soon as I get dual exahust and chip.

Girls tell me my car is bad ***.

Personally I think honda is tite for goin all motor and hondas were made for the turns not straightaways. The only bad thing about honda are the number of stupid people who get them.

Hondas made for the turns? FWD with skinny tires? That doesn't sound fun at all!:p

The best part about Civics is the amount of time you guys spend bashing them.

The best part about a civic is the fuel economy, and who really cares about that?

Honestly, if performance is desired, why drop $5,000 into a used (and probably thrashed) DX and then another $3,000 into a body kit and an exhaust system that scares people away from racing? Rather, buy a TII (or even an n/a for that matter), spend the extra $4-6,000 on mods and be raced by everyone

Kliftin, do not expect to be able to rev to 9K with just exhaust and chip. You might be able to do it, but it will be a waste. Your power peak will still be below 8K, and more likely than not, it will be pointless to go above that.

My car can rev fleely to fuel cut at 8600, but I never go that high, simply because I have more power in the next gear at a lower rpm. Meres my shift pattern. 1st - 8100 rpm, 2nd - 7800 rpm, 3rd 7800 rpm, 4th, 7500(I havent tried 4th yet, I dont trust my tires)

I have seen some great LOOKING civics.. ( SOME!! RARELY!!) and I have nothing against them... Cept for the fact they have pistons in the engine...

But it's sooo damn anoying seeing people buy a civic.... Then spending SOO much money on Huge spoilers (for those HIGH G launches in their front wheel drive cars) and body kits (at LEAST 25 horse power increase... Easily!) and not to mention the aerodynamic paintjob (5-10 HP ..) throw in the stickers... decals... and not to mention the speakers... don't get me started on the nasty looking exhaust.... Wheels? are those called BLING BLINGs ? WTF? Wow!!! clear out tail lights? I've never seen a civic with that! you are damn unique bud!! wow!! And Type R stickers? Do those add a lot? WHY? and what is your problem ? Do you seriously think your car is quick cuz it looks G'ed out ? Dawg? grr.... I guess it's just me... but my money goes towards performance first... and maybe , just maybe some towards looks (none yet...)

I suppose some people have their priorities...

P.S. There are rims called Bling Blings.... OMG they are nasty! WHY!?!?!? poor cars

I forgot something!!

Right now I am missing one of my mufflers (rusted off... cheap crap..) and my car is pretty loud and chunky... =( it sounds like most of the civics out here... who have "performance" exhaust... No joke.. just like them... EW it's not cool!

Does anyone wanna start an G-Dawg SUV bashing thread? I have lots to say on that one!!!!

haha

I believe my friend quoted it best:

"Almost all the civics out there are all show and no go...very rarely do you see any sleepers"
And when I told him I was making my car a sleeper he said:

"You can't make an RX-7 Turbo II a sleeper you idiot, their fast as they are!!!"

Nuff said.

I dunno people I'm just tired of hearing all this Honda bashing. It's starting to be as annoying as altezza style taillights.

New 90 GXL = MSRP = Around 22000
New 01 Civic = MSRP = Around 16000

See the difference there. with inflation, a 90 is almost 30K. And king of NA is BMW, not no damn Honda.

You forgot to mention that our spare tire is bigger than the stock rims on a Civic

yo Adam

Mazdaspeed. Just keepin it real yo. Just joking. Anyways I dont rev to 9000 yet. I Rev the same as your list right now. Im hoping That the chip and mods like yours I can effectively shift to 85 or 9k. The chip changes your torque patern. Otherwise your right. You have to swich gears to hit your torque range but I will have to dyno my car to be sure. I can feel when I start loosing power. But hey. its fun anyways. Do you think if I get street port I might hit 9k effectively. I dont know what My fedish is. I need help. RX7 victim. Need padded walls.

I have a 90 GXL, i dont even bother shifting at 8 anymore, but lately I've gone back to 8 a little more often. Going to 8 isn't really because there is power up there, going to 8000 is so you can set up your next gear
