Question Took an FC for a test drive today...

OK, so I took this battered FC for a test drive today. The selling price is $500. Not too shabby.

However, it does have some problems:

1. Logicon is dead. He has the part and I just need to put it in.

2. AC compressor is FUBAR. But who cares? It's a power drag anyway and has already been disconnected.

3. Paint is HORRID and there is some rust and one large dent. No worries, I have a budy with a body shop.

4. AWEFUL noise coming from the left rear wheel. It is a LOUD humming at speed, but a faint clicking at low speed. WTF could that be? He thought it might have been a brake problem, so the rear caliper was replaced. Didn't do the job. Could a rear wheel bearing be bad? Does this sound like a resonable conclusion?

Any ideas?

$500 for a FC with a good engine? These problems can be fixed and you'd have a good starting base for a project car. Most $500 cars don't come with such luxury items like running engines so pick it up and give it a new lease on life.

thats a sweet deal. Since you know someone at a bodyshop it won't cost as much to fix and you can turn that battered 7 into a great machine

This wouldn't happen to be in Columbus, OH would it? If so that's my friend's car. On the exterior it's very crappy, but it's been maintained very well. For $500 it's a great deal IMO, I was planning on buying it as a daily driver, but I got a BMW 325 for free, and already have an '88 TII. To me the problem sounds like a wheel bearing as well.

Yeah, getting it from my good friend Howard (Hwilli on this board.)

I know that the car runs fine. And I'm probably going to take it. I just need another car while my Probe GT is under the knife, and I've always wanted an RX7. I don't know if I would ever put any money into the car other than to get the basic problems fixed. '

However, worse comes to worse, I could always sell it to someone on this board for a parts car.

I didn't know Howard's FC was beaten like that. And what are you doing to the PGT?
