Tokico HP "Blues" Vert Springs

I got a great deal on a set of Tokico Blue's, bought them and about a week later two of the shocks on my S5 Turbo Vert gave out.

I had planned on ordering rsr race springs for the car, but it seems like the company has gone defunct and the few vendors that claimed to still have them sent emails regarding the impossibility of getting them when money was on the table.

Now I am at an impasse as to what kind of springs to put on the car. I wanted linear rates and I am very interested in autocrossing the car.

I was excited to see that the RSR "race" springs were also leveling springs drop roughly 1inch in the front and 1 1/2 in the rear, plus they had some aggressive spring rates 6k(334lb/in) fronts and 4k(224lb/in) rears, plus I was tired of "boating" around in my vert with all of her body roll and the high rates should help that.

There are quite a few threads floating around with people reviewing what springs to get with these shocks, but most people end up with either Ground Controls or the RSR race springs. Eventually, I plan on buying ISC's Bilstein coilovers, so I don't really want to spend the money on Groundcontrols now if that makes sense. Really can't afford them at the moment either way.

Considering these linears:
Tanabe GF210 3k(168)/2.5k(140)
Suspen Tech 2.1k(120) on each corner

Feel free to add your own experiences with the Blue's and other springs if you're autocrossing them. Or even pm me if you're selling some New ones.

I've got Racing Beat springs on all three of my Verts. Made specifically for Verts. All with Tokico shocks/struts.

What do you guys think about Tein S-Tech springs? I am considering purchasing the Tokico "Blues" as well and it seems quite popular to pair them with the S-Techs. Its affordable and Tein is a name with a good reputation from what I can tell. I don't really know anybody to ask about this sort of stuff personally, but I found your thread and figured I'd jump in. I have never heard of RSR and know nothing about Ground Controls, but I will look them up. Any help in this department would be much appreciated as I am kind of new to the RX performance world. My 88 N/A has been stock for as long as I've had it.

Thanks guys.

Last time I searched for Eibach Prokit springs for my FC I couldn't find any! I even went to Eibach's website and they didn't show any for a 2nd gen RX. Ebay didn't have any either. WTF!?!? Those were the springs I wanted. Where did you get yours?

I bought them about 10 years ago actually. Had them installed about 6 years ago. Maybe no longer available.

Oh ok, thanks. Well what do you know about the Tein S-Techs? That is what I am really leaning towards. They fit in the budget, but I don't want to sacrifice anything just to save a buck. I guess I just want to hear someone else's opinion before I buy. Ya know, to not be nieve and purchase without doing my due diligence. Also, I am having a hard time finding camber/caster adjustment plates for the top of the strut/spring assembly. Any insite?

I use Tokico HP shocks with Tein S-Tech springs. Although the front springs sit roughly half an inch from my tires, I have had no issues with rubbing... Other people have had issues with their tires rubbing on them. I wouldn't imagine that everyone's situation is going to be the same.

It has been a great daily driving set-up. The ride has been pretty comfortable and the handling has been great so far.

Ok great! Thank you for that. I'm gunna go head and order that same set up. I've been humming and hawing over it for some time now and this kinda seals the deal for me. No more over-thinking this. I also ordered Racing Beat sway bar end links and will probably upgrade both my sway bars this summer. The only other issue now is camber/caster plates. Any suggestions?

Keep in mind, you may or may not experience rubbing issues. I was only stating that my particular experience with this set-up had been good.

The Tein springs rub the 7" wide TURBO wheels in front, but not the 6" NA wheels. I had them and got new racing beat springs instead. No more rubbing

^ Makes sense. I have S4 GXL wheels. At first the Tein S-Tech springs seemed almost too close for comfort... But after some driving and cornering, nothing negative arose. The Tein springs were within my budget. (Got them new from a forum member for $90 + FTP lenses, shipped.)

I would like to eventually try out some Racing Beat springs.

I have had tein springs on both tokico blues and now on illuminas that were on two different convertibles.

Tein + blues with OEM vert wheels and 205 tires did have some minor rubbing, but only on the fronts. However the same springs + Illuminas on a different vert with the exact same tires did not rub. I talked to another vert owner with Tein + blues and he didn't ahve any rubbing.

Or, just get something like the Ground Control coil-over sleeves - then you can order Eibach ProRace springs in the spring rates you want, and fewer worries about wheel/tire clearance at the front.
