Today's happenings
Went into the hills today. Used my laptop and our GPS to guide us to a old bridge. Anways, went through custer state park and some wicked corners. Having all kinds of fun w/o paying entrance fee (off season.) We (me and my friend) notice a pretty bad vibration. The car has had a slight vibration since the tranny swap, but its pretty bad. We pull over and check the tires to see that the Front Pass tire had lost a lug nut and the other 4 were loose, and completely away from the tire. We hand tighten them and realise we don't have a spare or the wrench kit (heh, I knew that would happen.) We waved down some tourists in a big chevy silverado. Who would have *EVER* thought the stock lugnuts were the same size on their truck as on my rex. We borow teir really cool ratcheting wrench and get on our way. I said happy easter and thanks.
A nother mile or turn and the tire would have fallen off, and I would have made a stupid, yet desperate, attepmpt to make a right hand turn to keep the car on three wheels.
God looked down on us today. Seems he does this often.
Coincidentaly, we filled the car up in Custer, went through custer state park, to Hot Springs, to Cascade Falls, back to Hot Springs, and hit 79 north. When we got home I was surprised!?
I had reset the odometer when we filled in custer. We drove 130 miles home from their and the fuel tank was just slightly below 3/4 full. Damn nice MPG for how I was driving. I tapped the gauge to see if it was working (shield is off, so you can touch all the needles) and it went right back to 3/4. Wish it would get that kind of mpg in town!!!
BTW only thing I can think of different was that this is the first refill after I used DuraLube's fuel injetor cleaner. And I refilled with 88 octane instead of 85.
night all.
