toasted engine

hey all! this tuesday i may be buying a 86 non turbo rx-7 with a little over 100k on the engine. i know nothing at all about rotary engines but a few people said to me "have fun burning up your engine!" so now i'm wondering if i should get it or not. i figure its not a turbo or has any type of work done to it so that should prolong engine life. but should i still worry? i dont want to have to fear that if i dont drive like an old women i might as well kiss my car goodbye. should i look for another car or do i have nothing to worry about? i figure you guys have had the experience so you would have a better idea. and since im on the subject, would anyone know anythings i can look at to check out the condition of the engine. any help would be greatfull, thanks to all who read!

The rotary isnt as bad as everyone says it is...With proper care and feeding, it will last a while. One of my N/A motors lasted 212,000. Change the oil every 3000 miles, and check it even more freqently. Rev it up every once in a while. And DONT overheat it!
