TMIC rubber bushing alternatives
TMIC rubber bushing alternatives
I checked at Online Mazda Parts and there dont seem to be replacements available for the rubber bushings that cushion the TMIC against the UIM. Ours all broke up and I searched to see if anyone had solved the problem before but didnt find anything.
Any suggestions?

hardware store and some light bulbs to hold over your head. you may need a generator too to turn them on when you find something.
it really doesn't need to be cushioned anyways, just spaced out properly. the original mounts are more of a phenolic plastic material than rubber. nylon bushings and a dremel with cutoff wheel should net you something.

They're not to cushion so much as to provide some level of heat insulation from the UIM. Not sure home much it actually helps retard heat soak, but some is better than none.
Nylon bushing and a dremel sounds promising, but I'm not sure nylon will stand up to the heat. Since the rubber bushing fits over a metal sleave, my first reaction would be a couple of really thick O rings made of a realtively stiff heat resistant material like what the lower injector grommet is made of.
Any of you engineer types put a name to that material?
Can any of your engineer types suggest

If insulation is the aim then just buy some rubber plugs, drill holes through the middle, then use them as washers. If you really wanted to get fancy you could cut a slot around them, too, to act like the originals. Expansion plug, plain rubber, rubber mallet... I used cheap rubber mallets to make new trans mount bushings for my pickup because the parts store doesn't sell new ones.

I was planning on using the rubber end cap style table feet that I was using for BPV plugs. But thought I'd try tapping into the collective wisdom. But you guys got nuttin'!!!
