tire sizing, stock rim

tire sizing, stock rim

91 gxl. will a 225-60/15 fit w/o rubbing? or should i stay w/ a 205?

it will fit, but on most 225 tires 6 or 6.5 inchs is the absolute min wheel width.

the tirerack guy was concerned about the higher sidewall on the 225 rubbing.

Next week I'm mounting 225-50/15's.
The 50's look cool, give a wider footprint, and don't jack me up higher.
Also they help the final drive ratio.

Oh - To answer your question. I had 225-50/16's on my 87.
I had to grind 1/8th inch off the spring purch to clear the sidewalls.
And they did rub the top of the front fender (slightly) if you hit a bump while turning.

That's why I'm staying with the 15 inch wheels..
