tire size question

On a rim that's 16x7 with a 40offset, would I be able to fit 235/50 in the rear and 225/50 in the front? Or anything else that's wider? Wheel spacers?

I have 225's in the back, not sure about 235's? But I hear 225's in front are pretty tight & might rub?

depending on manufacturer, some 225/50's will fit on the front, some will not. Some require gring away a small amout of metal from the strut mounting.
235/50's no problem on rear. Actually 245/50's will fit without any problem. on 7" rim.

From what I can see 225/45 series 17's actually have a smaller cross section width than a 225/50 x 16,
therefore should fit. This is naturally depending
on rim width and offset, as it's not a stock rim.
Take a look at www.thetirerack.com and compare sizes.

Cool! Thanks for your imput. :-)

Any other testimonials about having 245/50 or 235/50 in the rear on a 16x7 40offset rim? I'd really like to run a staggered set up with 225s in the front and 245s in the rear! Most of the posts I've been reading with the stock TII wheels are wrapped with 225s all around ...
