Tire size?

Does anyone know if 195/50VR16 tires will fit on a 88 Convertible?

Not on the stock rim.

Even on a 16" rim, your speedo would be off by about 4% too fast (since your diameter would be about an inch smaller, than a stock size).

Thanks for the replies. I knew the 16's wouldn't fit on my 15" BBS rims. I would either store or sell those. The guy selling them said they have Brand New Protege 5 spoke alloy wheels and Dunlop tires with only 50 miles on them. He wants $400 for the set of 4 and since I need new tires I thought I might try these. I had a feeling it would throw the speedo off, but 4% fast doesn't sound too bad, does it?

He told me the bolt pattern for the 2003 Protege is 5 on 4.5 - Which is the same as 114.3 mm right?

yeah, maybe they changed it this year, but it used to be 4 x100 or 5 x100 just like the Miata (since it used the Miata front brakes).
