tips on removing guage needles

Well on a spare gauge cluster I had I tested installing a set of glowy gauges I got off ebay and found that that volt and temp gauge needles dont "plug" back in the holes once removed. My question is does anyone have any tips on how to remove them without messing stuff up?

Look at how the temperature, fuel and oil pressure gauges are made. There is a small bimetal strip, heated with a coil, and a small plastic lever it pushes against. When you pull the needles off, the whole assembly will fall apart. All you have to do is reassemble in the same way. Best to have an extra gauge to look at, but it's not very complicated. The gauges themselves come out of the cluster with a few screws.
