tip for pre-mixers

i have discovered a simple,no mess way to add pre-mix to the tank. Most auto stores carry a hand powered oil pump that screws on to gallon oil containers.I have been using one for years as it's pretty much the only way to get gear oil into a tranny or rear end as you can't pour up.It turns out they pump exactly 1 oz per stroke and screw right on to gallon size containers(probably quart size too). They also have a nipple on the end that will fit right into the little flap in the fuel fill and lock in until released,so ya just stick it in,pump once to prime and then once for every gallon your gonna put in,let excess drain back into container, and pump your gas, easy and clean, and cheap too!

That looks like a pretty good idea...I wonder if it stays consistent with 1 pump = 1 ounce when it's really friggin' cold outside.

I can't imagine whipping that out at a gas station and pumping oil into the tank. I mean, it's bad enough having to carry a 1 quart jug of premix, but a 4 quart container?!

it will also fit on a 1 quart bottle....i was pondering the possibility of actually plumbing it into the filler neck with the jug concealed somewhere so you just reach in and pump it before or even during fuel pumping....

I get a lot of weird looks just with a ~20oz bottle. Then again everyone within 20 miles can smell my car, so whatever.

just put premix in a 1 quart container that you can see the measured amount with, and pour out of that. i find that the easiest way to do things.

no matter what you do though premix always ends up getting all over the place.

I found this funnel made by redline, it works perfecly as a pre mix funnel. Its fits deep into the filler neck depressing the flapper door, and the angle is perfect so that you don't have to hold it it. Its sits with the opening perfectly paralell to the ground.

here is a link to a picture top of page:

Yes it would fit nicely in the spare tire area. Who really caries a spare anyway.

That would be REALLY neat if it held a oil bottle instead of just being an open funnel. Funnels are messy at best. Expecially when you put them away and they drip all over the place. On my last car I just nabbed one of those little screw on twist valves you see in auto stores, and put 4" of flexible tubing on the end... it was just enough tubing to put in... and not too much so that it flopped all over the place.. fit in the spare tire area perfectly, but was a bit of a guessing game when it came to how much.. Sometimes I would just err on the side of too much. I figure that too much 2-stroke oil is probably still better than just the right amount of engine oil from the OMP.

Everyone should have a spare. The one and only time I decided to leave my spare at home, I had a blowout literally 40 miles from another human and it took 5 hours of walking to find someone willing to drive me to the nearest town...
