Timing keeps going out....
Timing keeps going out....
hey guys...finally got my car done...just needs paint now...anyways i was driving my car around this weekend and then on saturday i fired it up and then the idle kept going down and down and quit...fired it up again and the same...the timing went out of it...when i bought the car the timing was out of it and i had just set it..just wondering why it may be doing this??
Timing should be set with a timing light. Once set and the cinch bolt is tightened to the cas, the timing CAN'T change. Timing is set with a hot engine and the rpms should be below 900 rpm or less. Actually under 1000 rpm but less than 900 is safer due to inaccurate tach gauges. Install the initial set coupler if in doubt (NOT required for setting the timing).
