timing on an 86 base
aliright i know trailing timing is 20* ATDC (red mark) and leading timing is 5* ATDC (yellow mark)
do i check it just like i check say a small block chevy? just switch the light to 20* advance and check the trailing and hten switch it to 5* advance and check the leading? and im assuming if the timing is off... all i really need to do i check say.. the trailing and time it within spec, becuase the leading mark is fixed as is the trailing mark and theres only one CAS to move. anyway hope thats not too confusing... thnx
oh yeah, and wich way do you move the CAS to advance and witch way to retard the timing?

OK, its easy. all you have to do is hook up he timing light to the trailing or leading and match it with the appropriate color thats marked on the pulley. I'm sure there is a right up somewhere. Search.

The lower wires/plugs are the leading plugs and the upper ones are the trailing. With the front leading plug set to 5 degrees, as shown by the yellow mark on the crank pulley, the front trailing will automatically fall in because the computer fires the one 15 degrees after the front leading one fires. The trailing timing is verified by putting the timing light on the trailing wire and checking it against the red mark, but it cannot be independently adjusted in relation to the leading plug.

yeah, so really all you need to look for and adjust is for the leading... becuae trailing one cannot be adjusted from the leading... thats what im asking, so i really only need to check the leading and make sure its right
