Time for a new tranny? :(

Starting to get small grinding between 1st/2nd.. sometimes clunks into gear..(mostly first thing in the morning, when it's cold)
i suspect the synchro's are going, wondering if there's a cheap fix or if i have to get the entire tranny rebuilt?

My car grinds more before the oil is warmed up also. People say that redline gear oils will protect the synchros from much more wear. When my car's tranny is cold I try to stay in first to the end of my street and get into second as smoothly as possible.

i also found that there is a slight grind between first and second .. i read a post here i think .. that if ur shifting to quickly it can grind as per the syncros cant keep up ... also it could just be ur clutch be wearing out ... generaly the shift between first and second is the roughest and a worn clutch can cause a slight grind .. simalar to the grind going into reverse

Yes. That's synchros. You can try some redline MTL, which helped me but it doesn't solve the problem and it will still grind when you try to do a fast shift.

Not to flame whoever said it was clutch but where exactly did you hear that?
