Exclamation TII Value Question (Buying today) Hate to ask but...

I am looking at a 1987 Black on Black T2. It is in fair (average) shape for a 20 year old car. Car is not currently running. The intercooler and fuel lines are unhooked. Can't get a straight answer on as to why they were removed yet. Woman answered the phone and said her son was screwing with the car....

Asking price is $1500 obo with a motivated seller. I hate buying a "non' running Rx-7 again. But If I can get this thing to run without a rebuild......lol..

What do you think as far as price goes.??

do a compression test, if it has compression and is in decent shape $1500 is fair...id throw $1000k at him and see what he says. you sure its black on black and a 87? the only s4's with black interiors were the 10th ae

Geez... I wouldn't want to mess with another person's project. However, if the mileage isn't too ridiculously high and the motor has good compression--it might be a good deal.

My buddy bought a TII that ran VERY poorly several months ago for $2200. It had been owned by incompetent people who knew nothing about Rx7's and was eventually given up on. Well, $100 and 20 hours later, we had a TII boosting a perfect 10psi and keeping up with my heavily modified Rx7 on low-boost. He sold it for $3700 just a couple months later.

I would question this guy about every little thing he touched on this TII, and ask him specifically what happened to put it into the state that it's currently in...

Talked to the guy today. He said tha the oil injecton lines started leaking so he bought new ones and had it apart to replace them. Now it's gonna need a gasket for the intake and a PD too from what he said.. (broke teh other while removing). 130k on the car, all stock.

He said he has to move it NOW and is really will ing to bend on the price.....

Hum and haw and see if you can get it for 3 digits, 130K miles (and an apparently failing oil system) and my nose tells me that engines on its last legs....

Looked at it yesterday, the paint is scratched a little and needs a buff. The interior is NEAR mint. The engine is questionable but everything is there including some spare parts. Hopefully it will be an easy fix. Or an easy part out. Also has teh old RSR (racing beat) mufflers..lol pretty funny.

I bought my 88 TII for $1200 completely gutted and engine torn apart. I mean even wiring harness' were out and "unnecessary" wires taken outta the harness. (He was gonna build it to be a race car)

I personally could not pass the deal up because the body, unibody and interior (Even tho pull out and in pieces) were all in superb condition. Plus I like a challenge and been looking for a decent shape TII for over a year.

If you want it, and willing to take the chance on a rebuild, get it. I think 1500 for a non running TII that is solid is a decent deal. Seriously offer 1000-1100 and see what he says.
