TII vacuum line routing

koay now that my engine is in I totally forgot how my vacuum lines on my turbo are supposed to hook up.. I was told to re route them so it puts out stock boost until the engine is broken in , but I'm lost and frustrated
I've got a s5 turbo on an s4 intake and throttle , with bov and boost controller and gauge ,
is it possible if someone could tell me how to run the vacuum lines properly , so I dont mess this up
I tried looking at the FSM and I still couldnt figure it out lol
any help would be amazing right now

There are no "vac lines" on the turbo. There's only a 1/4" hose than goes from the nipple on the compressor outlet to the nipple on the wastegate actuator. You can see it on page 4B-56 of the FSM Fuel Systems chapter.

I'm series four oriented, but on the series five, isn't there a nipple on that hard line b/t the wastegate actuator and compressor outlet, that a hose is attached to and then goes to a solenoid to control boost? ON a series five that is. So if you put a series five turbo on a series four car, that nipple will still exist. Right. Yes. Cap it off with a hose and clamp (pressure line).

yeah It has a nipple there , mine was tapped into my boost controller I think , anyways I simplified it and put it to where stock should be I believe ,

YAY !!! lol I got the car started though ,it sounds great , I'm excited as hell
but I found a line thats open and I dont know where its supposed to go ,

it looks like its coming from the back of the UIM right next to the fuel rail ... its putting out pressure .. but I cant find where its to go ...anyone know where? by chance... I'll try and get a picture of it if I can get my camera working

that nipple is supposed to be routed into the rats nest somewhere. check to see if you have an unhooked line below/near it. if the line is missing, have fune trying to hook it up. it's nearly impossible w/o removing the UIM/TB.

okay , I couldnt find anywhere to plug the vac lin into , so I started it eithout , and it revs to 3k and holds there , oil pressure goes right up almost to the top of the gauge and holds there . after like 20 seconds it drops to a unven idle and dies , and if I keep it alive with the throttle , it surges and anmost shakes..? I dunno whats up

I took off the UIM and found a line that doesnt go anywhere comes out of the LIM on the inner side.. comes directly out off the manifold .. does anyone know where it goes ... cause I might just block it off and see

Look up the vac routing diagram in the FSM in the FAQ for FC thread. Alternatively you can search for rats nest removal for your car if you dont have to pass emissions. Honestly if it were me id cap it off if you already have a vac line going to the fuel pressure regulator. If you dont want to make boost then just take off your wastegaste clip on the actuator lever and disconnect it so the wastegate can swing open freely. I did that when I first got my build running and couldnt make a single psi of boost (though my wastegate was ported too).

since you have the UIM off. take a look at your rats nest. i garantee there is a hard line missing a hose. i'm sure that's what's causing your problem. capping it off wont help much b/c whatever it's supposed to be hooked up to, isnt reading any vac/pres anymore.

the rats nest is a pain to deal with, but when hooked up properly, it wont cause any problems. like longshoe said, remove it if you dont need b/c it makes life more simple when taking of your UIM/TB.

well I found where its supposed to go and put it in place, UIM back on and replaced that 90 degree coolant hose , (Man that thing is a B****) everything back together ... and started her up , not as bad mind you .. but still very much there .. and when I clutch it gets worse ... faster surges like 1 a second instead of one every 10 seconds .. also it idles now at say 1300 rpm

any clues? all the silly lines under there seem to be good

http://www.teamfc3s.org/info/articles/idle.html

Too hard to figure out idle speed problems online.

Any speed over , say, about 800 cannot be effected by adjusting the bac scew.

It could be everything from a vaccuum line on the wrong fitting to fuel injector grommets leaking because they are fifteen years old and hard as a rock to a turbo inlet duct with a crack or the air hose on the bac with a bad clamp to the timing being so ............................

And never try to adjust the idle speed unless the engine is fully HOT. Nor state what the idle speed is unless the engine is fully HOT.
