TII Tranny Questions

I have an 87TII. My tranny is all screwed. Shifting has become incredibly notching and nearly impossible. I can't get my car into reverse and every other gear is hard to get into and most of the time I grind them. I know I have synchro problems but it was just in second. This problem happened nearly over night and I don't think all my synchros would all go at once. Any suggestion? Also is it possible to put a N/A tranny into a TII? How long would it hold up if at all? If I can fix this tranny I will, but i kinda been wanting to get a 6 speed any suggestion on where I should look to get one. I think I read that the T-56, I believe, 6- speed would fit the 2Gs. Thanks for any help

Sounds like it's nothing major, but the syncros would have to be repaired.

NA would not last and probably wouldn't bolt up.

Use redline synthetic if you aren't already.

Clutch perhaps?

An n/a tranny will bolt right up to your turbo engine, but you'd have to use an n/a flywheel and clutch assembly. You'd also have to get a custom driveshaft made.

As for the T-56, I seriously doubt the bolt patters will match up, but perhaps there are adaptors that can be used. The gear ratios will probably be horribly wrong.

Brand new clutch, I got it from Victoria British catalog, I meant to get a better clutch. I was starped for cash at the time and needed a clutch. The clutch came with a new throw out bearing, preassure plate and clutch plate. I'm planning on using reline tranny oil. I hear it works mircales. I read in an old thread that the T-56 6 speed does bolt up to the rex and the gear ratios are awesome(not sure what they were) But I read this before my tranny problems and didn't pay much attention to the thread I just thought "oh thats cool" and nothing more. Anyone else with any other input would be awesome thanks everyone!

compare ratios on the trannys. if they arent close youl wind up losing performance.

I don't know that much about trannies, I'm learning as i go along. So when I look at gear ratios they may as well be latin cause I don't know what they mean. Don't get me wrong I know quite a bit about cars but haven't really learned about trannies yet. I'm going to school next year and taking auto tech so hopefully next year they will make more sense to me.
