TII swap questions

Alright, I've got two questions...

First, I removed my Power steering in the swap. Will I have to worry about cutting the knock sensor wiring and, how the HELL do you get rid of that horrible beeping!?!?

Second, with the TII tranny that I put in... The wiring isn't the same as on the N/A tranny that wiring includes clips to the electric plug in the oil pan.

Anyone else come across these issues? And, know how I might fix 'em?

Please and thank you!
Scott.

The car has three short beeps then stops. Meaning that the power steering isn't working.
Well duh it's not working, it's not in the car. But, I can't kill the beeping.

I was told that a wire on the S4 N/A plugs up to the power steering and that on the turbo it plugs into the knock sensor.

I was also told to cut that wire to avoid retarding the timeing by twenty degrees everytime I turned.

The S4 N/A Tranny has a lot of wires atatched to it. The Turbo model doesn't have any wires. I tried interchanging 'em but the threading is different and the bolt is short on the N/A. About that TII battery harness... Where would I find one?

Battery cables are a part of the ENGINE harness. A jpg is shown of the ENGINE harness. The non turbo ENGINE harness does not have some of the items shown in the jpg. Like the alternator wires etc.

Are you saying there are not two switches on your JDM transmission. Or that the wires that were on them are broken off. Or/????????????

The USA transmission has a dual function switch on the left. The JDM has but one function. The JDM switch should have two pigtail wires on it. The switch on the right should also have two wires on it. That one is the neutral switch.

The two wires on the left switch should go to the black/yellow wires of the stock harness and the red/green wires on the stock harness.

The two wires of the pigtail on the switch on the right should go to a Black wire and a green/black wire that are on the stock harness.

Pin 1R is for a wire from the Knock Unit on a turbo car and pin 1R on a non turbo comes from a switch on the power steering unit . If the power steering unit is not there.........duh, no signal being given to 1R. By the way, it was a gnd signal from the power steeing unit, not a voltage signal anyway. Mute point.

AFter looking today, my JDM tranny has the pigtail plug on the back and the wires barely make it to that on the left side. It also has two female wires sitting on the top that I cannot find the appropriate male plug for.

I looked around the steering gear box, and I couldn't find any wires that were plugged in anywhere near there. I only have the pump removed from the lines. and out of the car so I know it's not plugged in at the pump. Where should I be looking for the ground wire to kill that damned beeping?

Last but not least and sorry for not remembering this in my original post...
i can't find where my oil level sender plugs into. My engine is an S4, so I know that I've got pressure (run by the E-Shaft right?) and I just put oil in there but, the psi gauge isn't working because it's not plugged in. What part of the harness would I follow to find where it the female outlet on the oil pan plugs in?

Sorry I know newb questions... But, I'm not finding it.

Please and thank you!

Forget about the length of the wires / shape of the plugs on the transmission switches. Cut them off, run new wires & hook them up to the right colored wires on the engine harness.

The P/S pump plugs in near the battery & main fuse box.

The wire for the oil pressure sender has a flat plug, the clips onto the front of the sender. It should be close to the water temp sensor wire.

For the tranny: On the pig tail clip there are not any wires... So Just leave that one hooked up as is? And the two other set up should just solder in just fine with the way you describe it right?

For the oil pan wiring: You're talking about the water temp sensor on the bottom left of the radiator right?

Sorry about all the questions... I'm just new to the this whole electrical crap and none of the other write ups said anything about the tranny wiring being different at all.

Please and thank you!

The transmission will have a neutral switch & a 5th gear / rev switch (JDM is only a reverse switch). Hailers posted the wire colors already, so simply take the two for the neutral switch, extend them & add bullet connectors so they plug onto the switch itself. Same thing with the 5th / rev switch, except you will have 2 or 4 wires depening on whether it's JDM or USDM.

The water temp sensor I was refering to is located directly next to the oil pressure sender. Both are underneath the oil filter pedestal. It has a single wire with a bullet connector that comes off the harness in the same spot as the wire for the oil pressure sender.

Although I don''t have pwr steering, I believe the power steering CONTROL unit is above/around the steeing wheel shaft. I figure if you disconnect it, then the beeps will stop.

Just in case: attached is a jpg of the USA reverse/over the top switch. I pointed to what is called the PIGTAIL harness on the switch. You have to connect those wires by hook or crook to the wires I ID'd in my last post.

If those wires are broken off, then the switch is no good and you need another with the pigtail wires.

Alright guys thank you so much to HAILERS and to RotaryRocket88, I now feel confident enough to tackle the last little bits of the TII swap.

Thanks guys.

for the beeping for the power steering to go away. i took out my power steering fuse by the fuse box by your feet. thats how i got my beeping to go away but then again i wasnt doing a t2 swap. i was just rebuilding my motor and took off the power steering in the process so i just took out the fuse and the beeping went away. it might not be the right way but hey, if your not using the ps at all then this is just bieng me i wouldn't worry about it
