TII swap complete (pics)

Well, it's finally done I still have a few things left such as the Rtec7 ECU upgrade which I will hopefully order this week as well as fabricating an underbelly tray to guide air through the 3 coolers up front. The motor has about 250 miles on it now and runs really well. It has zero starting problems hot or cold and even holds a decent 800 rpm idle. I'd like to credit J&R in elmont for the installation work, Kevin @ rotary resurrection for the rebuild and my brother @ Z-1 Performance for getting me all the aftermarket parts I wanted. Here are a couple of pics...hopefully we can get the car painted towards the end of the summer.

A complete mod list and some older pics can be found @

Looks real clean....I'm hoping to do the T2 swap if I don't sell the GXL for a AWD DSM or BMW E30.

haha, i just noticed the little spoiler in the rear. is that a "sport" spoiler? i'm not good with all those small details. the car doesnt really look like it has a spoiler from that side angle, but looks very aggressive. if i ever get a nice set of wheels, i may ditch my spoiler. i think these cars look mean without the rear spoiler, honestly. i do like your little "nubbin" though. its cute.
and purple appears to be my guilty pleasure. or "claret mica" as you call it.

Yep, that spoiler is off an '87 sport. I always liked them since they give the car even more of a Porsche 944 look. The digital pics don't do the color justice, in person it's a nice burgandy - the color was only offered in '88 I believe.

Oh, and you said nubbin, thats just funny

You need a new radiator, that thing is looking like it's on it's way out.

The radiator works fine and the coolant is always perfectly green without a hint of rust/dirt. The fins are straight, it's not dented at all and it doesn't leak a drop. The top of it could just use a scuffing and a blast of spray paint. I do plan on getting a koyo one of these days since the FMIC inhibits some cooling ability.

This is the only other one I have of the seats, I can take another since this is also an old pic. The boost gauge is now mounted on the steering column. It looks nice and doesn't block the tach or speedo. I thought 3 A-pillar gauges would look terrible - I thought of mounting it in the door vent but this is a better place since I don't have to really look away to monitor boost. I'll snap a few more pics soon, more cleaning to do inside, outside and in the engine bay.

Ah, my mazda order came in...I got a brand new dipstick (the one that came w/ the motor was cracked, most of them are) a new drain plug (was rounded big time) and touch up paint. The plastic on the new dipstick is yellow, gross haha

Hopefully I can get some more cleaning done this weekend.

Here's another pic from today... No center caps in this one; I got new tires put on after work on friday and one of the tabs on a center cap cracked so it wouldn't stay on. I took them all off until I could order replacements tomorrow The 350Z is my brother's who had to come over today when he heard I was having a BBQ hehe
