TII stuck on 3/4 Throttle!!!

My friend just got a bone stock 87 TII. Well he wanted to time the 0-60mph, and after he did...the car is STUCK on what seems like FULL THROTTLE! He starts it up and right away the revvs hit up to redline and hits fuel cut. We checked everything out and what I found was that the THROTTLE linkage is like almost half way open and it won't go back to close throttle. There is a huge gap between the TPS sensor plunger thingie and were the resting position is. Something major is wrong. I tried pushing it to CLOSE THROTTLE but it won't move, it requires GREAT FORCE and prying with a SCREW DRIVER to get it to CLOSE THROTTLE again. WTF is wrong???

Well i was gonna say it might be the throttle return spring but then you said it required massive force to close it so thats not it. Uhhh thats really wierd is it only the throttle body thats busted? If so just go tot the junkyard and get one off a wrecked car. Dont even bother with the headache of tryin to fix it.

Ouch, if you are prying it hard to close it you probably damaged it now. Disconnect the cables from the throttle body and see. Try to see if the cold start rod is getting inthe way or something is getting in the way.

I would check on the back side of the throttle body to see if the cold start/cold idle stuff somehow is interfering....

Was the throttle body mod attempted on this car?&nbsp The cold-start cam is possibly jamming the thrtottle open...

Thanks for the suggestions...but the car is bone stock, never been touched. Everything on this car is totally original....definitely not the throttle cable, I checked that and even disconnected it...but it didn't help.
