Tii, series difference

I'm saving up for a TII and i'll probably end up buying it some time near the end of the year. I know that the series 4 came with something like 186hp and torque; and that series 5 came with 200hp, and 190(something) torque. For the people that owned one over the other, what made you pick which? Of the top of my head, i knew i wanted the s5 Tii's because of the increase in HP, but I later found out that they also increased weight. Which makes me wonder, which handles better? and, which is likelier to go faster for less (give me a break, i'm a college student )? I appreciate your input.
Thanks again

- Carlos

The S5 turbo had slightly higher compression rotors, as well as a revised wastegate design that allowed more boost before the need of a FCD or some type of boost management. Yes S5s weighed a little more due to the SRS and more sound-deadening material, as well as a few chassis revisions. S4 T2 was ~180HP, TQ, and S5 was ~200HP,TQ. As far as which one can be faster, they are both pretty much the same. The main difference why people prefer the S5 is in appearance. They get sideskirts and circle taillights, as well as a few interior revisions.

I prefer the S4 TII's and would choose one over an S5. The differences between the S4 and S5 TII's power are not much when you start to mod them. The S4's slightly lighter weight is also a plus.

Given that you can also get the early T2's cheaper, its a good route to go, more to choose from as well, I have loved mine! Good luck/skill!

I'd go with the s4 series. Cheaper and as said in a previous reponse the only benefit to having the s5 is cosmetic. I've gone from a 90 n/a to a 87 TII and i wish I started with the TII. Do yourself a favor pickup a cheap s4 and start building it up. Then the money you save buying the s4 use the remaining and buy a beater to get you from point a to b. That way you can take your time and build up the TII properly. Thats what i'm doing

awesome. I already have a beater it's in my sig. Thanks for the responses. Also, I know it's possible to upgrade some cosmetic stuff from s4 to s5, but is it really a hassle or just simple replacement?

Most of the stuff is just a simple replacement. For example, S4 cars have cheap some cheap plastic interior parts such as radio surrounds, and an uglier steering wheel. I have my car upgraded to the heavier duty rubber S5 stuff, and the nicer tri-spoke steering wheel. The S5 cars have a different front bumpers, and body-colored side moulings, as well as the circle taillights. These things are , for the most part, simple bolt on replacements. I also have a S5 gauge cluster in my car, which required a bit of wiring work.
