TII pulls lightly modded FD to 100mph

Thought you guys might like to hear this.

TII has full exhaust, cone filter, FCD, some weight reduction down ~2650lbs currently. This was our $2002 GRM Challenge TII. Boost is around 9-10lbs.

FD is a 93 R1 has DP, CB and that's it for the power mods.

From a roll, going 50mph, both cars in second, TII rolling into throttle first (because of a little more spool up time than the FD). TII pulled ahead by about 1/2-3/4 length until the 3-4 shift, then the FD was even with the TII, after that it was all over for the TII as the FD started pulling ahead after about 100mph, we lifted around 115mph. Done twice, same results.

The FD has a 8K rpm redline and the TII has a 7K rpm redline, so the TII had to be shifted before the FD, the FD pulled ahead after it was in 4th...

Not too big of surprise for me, the FD has turned a best of 13.59@102.85 mph, the TII has turned a best of 13.425@105.5 mph when it weighed about 2450lbs.

All-in-all the TII is a kick *** bargin performer.

Of course this test was performed with professional drivers on a closed course, don't try this at home.

Was that you and the other Jeff? By closed course, you mean the nearest road that did'nt have a school crossing, or retirement home? CJ

I read that article! VERY cool I still don't understand why the 2nd place FC didn't win though. It seemed to me that it beat the first place car(a bmw, I think? I can't remember) in both the autox and the drag. What gave?

Actually we got third place. We didn't win because of the car show, the car show points really determined the winner.

Check out pics of our car at:

The winner here:
http://www.2002challenge.homestead.com/forsale.html

Scroll down and look at all the pages of the build-up, lots and lots of work.

The 2nd place Dodge Omni really should have won IMHO, it did better in the auto-x than us by .9 sec and ran 12.50's in testing, another .9 sec faster than us.

We did it for the fun of it, the guys and the cars there were pretty much all really cool.

Later,
Jeff
