TII foh meh!

I am currently negotiating a deal for a 88 TII with a load of after market, BUT it has low compression in rear rotor. He wants $3000, I have just offered $2500 for it.

How low is the compression? If it is below 80psi, I wouldn't give over $2k, unless it had a LOT of mods and was in really good shape...

What mods? That seems a bit high to me. But maybe not, depending on what's done.

that seems a bit high for a not-so-great motor.

85psi front and 70-40-40. He has a **** load of mods
the white body has about 141,xxx miles on it... the engine mileage is unknown,
but it was told to me that it had about 20k on it... also, it was an
automatic motor so i know it wasnt redlined beaten up -- compression was 120
on both rotors, almost brand new and the turbo is the same, it pulls very
nicely... i put the motor and tranny in with my friend who has done lots of
intalls... i bought a newer, better-shape wiring harness for it also... its
got an OEM upgrade radiator, with a 16" fan on it wired to the key ignition
(just turn the key and the fan turns on), the battery is relocated behind the
passenger seat in a plastic container, secured down by a cheap little
restraint i made, its got Accell wires, an older MOMO leather wheel, silver
older MOMO race pedals, a gunmetal Razo ****, 91 GTU wheels with about 70% tread, 91 tail lights, Greddy turbo timer, brand new aluminum radiator
deflect/baffle plate, aftermarket blow-off valve, GRacer (Greddy) Airinix
intake, Racing Beat FDC, i have lots of OEM parts, a disassembled 87 american
T2 motor, and just other stuff...

the bad: body is pretty clean, front bumper could use a little work (its
chipping a little and has a small crack near the pass. FTP lense), the bumper
is a little loose on the pass. side, only because i missed a bolt or two and
was too lazy to put them on, permanent "door open" idiot light, and others
flash on and off for no reason, the car needs to be tuned, it runs well, but
has trouble idling sometimes and the air/fuel needs to adjusted along with
the idle, it doesnt like hot starts as most dont, could use an alignment,
missing most rear-half interior carpet parts (i have them, i just dont like
them in), turbo heat shield is pulled away because it smelled like crap when
it got hot and smoked a little, um, thats all the bad i can think of right
now. nothing really major just needs some care.

overview: the car needs someone who knows what to do with it, im 17 and dont have the money to make it into the rally car i wanted it... its my 3rd rx-7
and i just cant afford them this young even though i love them... i just paid
over $400 for tax and registration, but have yet to smog it (even though ive
had it for about a year, oops)... all you have to do is smog the car and its
good for two years since i got screwed by the guy i bought it from and paid
all his fees... right now im driving it on a temporary operating permit that
is good until the end of September...
the price is $3500 obo
The other deal fell through, he was too far, this guy lives right near me, what do you think? And my source of extra funds has refused to provide extra funds I think I am stuck N/A.

No way is that car worth it.......for 2500 w/ blown motor it'd better have full suspension brakes, body perfect.

yeah, I'd say the same thing... with a blown motor like that, and 141K on the body/tranny not over $1500.

and he is BS'ing with an "automatic motor" unless it is a Jspec... Which would mean he has blown up two or more motors with his mods.

I personally would offer $900 to start, and might go up to $1200.

I paid $2200 for mine. Good body, practically no rust, w/ a carbon locked engine. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention a seal and gasket kit (from Mazdatrix).

Paid 3800 for mine, but it has 70,000 original miles and no mods, new paint, tires, brakes, and lots of service records, and even compression on both rotors...
