tii flywheel bolt

ok weel i got the motor together and took it down to my shop and hammered the flywheel nut on with our 1" impact and locktighted the treads with purple locktite. Well the motor is now hard to turn over as befor when i had the flywheel off. Do you think that i torqued it to muck. Our compresser isint very good and dosent have that much psi only like 110. i dont think i put it on to tight. I that how all of your motors are or did i over tighten the bolt?

i don't believe you can overtighten the bolt, you can however push the key out of position and get it wedged against the block.

i suggest removing the nut and looking into the bore and seeing if it is in it's groove.

There is a torque spec for that flywheel nut.
It's like 290 lb-ft to 360 lb-ft, or something close to that.

Banging on it with the hammer isn't going to hurt it.

The flywheel nut tighens down on the stock flywheel or rear counterweight onto a taper, so it doesn't crush anything.

If the engine gets suddenly hard to turn after tightening the flywheel nut, something else is amiss.

so basically i can use an impact gun, to tighten the nut? SINCE it cannot be over-tightened...

right? because i don't think i can torque it to 300 ft pounds without the flywheel brake they sell at mazdatrix...

You don't have to have any special tool to hold the flywheel in place. You can use a socket and wedge it between the flywheel/counterweight and a tension bolt or side of the rear iron.
