TII Engine Starting To Fail: What Are My Options?

I have a 1987 T2, the motor is starting to go south on it in a hurry so i have stoped driving it. I am 18 and about to graduate, i am thinking of keeping it but i will have to make it relible for my going to a local collage and back and forth to work all year long (I live in michigan so there is snow). i'm not in it right now to make it a speed demon (some day). I just want some opinions and some advice, a what you would do in my situation. i am willing to do alot of work but i dont want to mess with rebuilding the core because i dont want to **** it up. thank you for all the help.

Hows your compression? HOw many miles on the chassis/motor?

Is the car in good shape overall?

My quick answer would be, get another car if you're worried about reliability and long drives in the snow. I dont know the condition of your car though. How do you know the motor is going bad? It could be some sensor malfunctioning, your core could be fine...

You can either try to fix your engine yourself buy a rebuilt engine if the damages are too extensive. You'll need to give us more details if you want some help though.

i havent comp tested it, but i have to put my foot to the floor to get it started when its hot. my body has 130,xxx miles on it and minimal rust but lots of little parking lot dents. I am certified buy the state of michigan to work in a body shop (just got my tickit back 5-16-07) so the body work i can fix on my own. i will prolly have more details later but thats all i can think of for right now.

what sensors could it be to do this, and i have been fighting a problem of getting gasoline in the oil, so far i have put in a new FPR and injectors but its still getting gasoline in the oil.
