TII conversion: how to make the stock boost gauge work

i am getting ready to do the TII swap into my 91 n/a. I just got the tII gauge cluster today... not sure how to make the stock boost gauge work.... don't worry, i am going to run an aftermarket boost gauge also, but the thought of having a gauge on my stock cluster not work at all is disturbing to me.

any thoughts..,..

thanks

Use a Turbo gauge harness

yeah...i was just looking through the fsm wiring harness diagrams. the one thing iam not sure of is how the stock boost gauge recieves its signal. logic suggests from the boost/pressure sensor.

if i was an expert at reading wiring diagrams i would be making a helluva lot money that i am right now in my real job...lol.

anyone successfully done this before? I am trying to do a a decent turbo swap and don't want to be too ghetto. (i emphazie the too...)

do you maen the one that connects from the dash into the gauge...

or the one that connects from the ecu to the dash?

Well you could also read the FSM and check the wiring diagrams. If you look at the diagram just find the wires that relate to the boost gauge. You can solder the wires from the dash to the gauge itself wich you'll also need.

*On an unrelated note, I am seriously going insane. My girlfriend is blowing up and snapping at everything I do. I tried to pull her towards me for a hug, and becuase she was in the middle of putting something on the table it was the end of the world. Becuase she couldn't get it on the table before I tried huggingher, it was like a bomb going off.

**** I hate that time of the month...

to the related note..yeah, that is probably what i will have to do.

just making sure that i wasn't overcomplicating the problem and that an easier solution hasn't already been tried.

Actually the boost gauge gets its signal from the ECU, not the pressure sensor.

dash to gauges..

on the S5 models the dash to ECU harness is the same for all non turbo manual tranny coupes (regardless of if Turbo from the factory or not).

I think the question here shouldn't be how to do this, but rather why would you even bother? The stock boost gauge is pretty much useless at giving you an accurate measurement of manifold pressure, so you should be relying entirely on your aftermarket gauge. Since there are no other differences between the NA and Turbo gauge clusters, all this swap will achieve is to replace a useful voltmeter with a redundant boost gauge. My advice is to stop what you're doing and reinstall the NA gauge cluster.

Nope, both the ECU and the boost gauge get their signal from the MAP sensor. The ECU and the boost gauge are essentially wired in parallel.
