Tighten the handbrake?

I've done a search and come up with nothing, so It comes down to asking.

The handbrake in my 86 series 4 is an absolute piece of ****. You have to really reef it on to get it to hold you on a hill, and don't even think about doing any handbrake manouveres.

Can anyone give me a clue how i'd go about tightening that thing up?

The rego certificate says it is only at 35%, whatever that means.

Cheers to any responses, and if this has been asked before and I just couldn't find it, my apologies, delete post.

yeah, remove the hand brake cover and you will see a adjustment nut/screw right there.

Should be adjusted to 4 to 5 clicks for full holding at 7lbs lift (on the lever).

Check your rear brake pads and make sure they are not too thin. You might want to run a grippier pad in the back especially if you are gonna do e brake manouvers.
