tieing down a relocated battery

ok, so I have my battery relocated pretty much just like ReTed did it on his site:

http://www.fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/BA.../battrelo.html

and I'm about to start auto-x my FC and I'm assuming I'm going to have to tie down the battery somehow...

I was planning on just drilling another 2 holes beside the battery all the way to the floor and put some sort of threaded studs in there that go all that way to the top of the battery and just tighten it down a generic bracket without breaking the bottom of the box by over tightening it...

how have you guys done it? does anyone have pics?

have to purchased your stuff yet for the relocation?.Are you running an Optima?.
There are battery holders specific to Optima, and fit the battery like a glove,Hold the battery in like a VISE.You can find them on Ebay.about 80 bucks, but well put together, and include all the necessary wiring.

it's already all done, it's been in for a while. But the battery isn't actually tied down... it's just sitting in the box which is the problem.

I was just looking for pics of how other people have done the tie down to get some ideas. Most of the threads I found when searching didn't have pics in them anymore...

The battery is loose in the box?!

My favourite method is to make a metal frame to encompass the battery, bolt it to the car, and then use a battery tiedown rod (from any auto parts store) to tie the battery through the frame and the floor of the car.

it's not loose in the bin . It's sitting in a plastic marine battery box. that's bolted to the floor.

But in ReTed's write up it doesn't have provisions for a tie down and I didn't really think about it till I was done... I'd prefer not to have to drill more holes than I already have. I saw the one on 1300cc with the tie downs on the side of the batter, I might try to use the holes I already have to do something like that.

For racing, the inspectors really just look for any movement in the battery case. I see that you have those bars/brackets that run longitudinal on each end. Does this not tie down your battery? or do you need something in place where your blue ribbon is?

I bought a marine battery box from walmart, mounted in the passenger rear compartment, installed battery and had just about a 2x4s worth on top and side. I shaved the 2x4s, and placed them between the battery and case walls as a shim. Works very well...no play at all.

Edit....wow i just read that. Sounds ghetto as hell. Walmart. 2x4s. Jesus.

I assure you its clean. I boxed the subframe and ran a monster cable 00 wire through it and into the rear compartment, fused it with high power stereo components.

Hopefully that overcompensated for the wood usage.

this is exactly what aftermarket relocation kits supply for a tie down.

two threaded rods, a metal bar with two holes drilled through it and 6 nuts. 4 nuts to secure the rods on the floor, 1 inside and 1 outside per rod. and 2 nuts to hold the metal bar against the battery.
