Cool TID - Filter size ??!?

I am making up a TID for my 91 TII with a streetported engine w/ a BNR 3 turbo.

I am going to route the filter to the front bumper behind my FMIC. So, size of the filter is important.

I first bought a KN filter that measured 6" diameter and 9" long. Not exactly sure what I was thinking but it was WAY to damn big.

Now , I am looking at a 5" diameter by 5" long.

This seems better.

I need a 3" flange on the back side of teh filter.

Thoughts on a good size?

http://www.knfilters.com/search/univround.aspx

That is the size chart I am looking at for reference....

As always, get the biggest filter that will fit. Take somes measurements of the area and compare them to the filters listed in the catalogue.

Well, since the filter will be tucked behind the FMIC but in front of the rad. I really do not want to impeed any flow the radiator.

The 6" wide 9" long filter.....was HUGE in that space.

Seems like 5" W 5"" will work better.

I guess once I get things running....I can do some magnehelic testing....see what kinda resriction I am getting with my TID/filter.

Wherever you decide to put it just make a cardboard mock up first to test fit.

Yeah, I know it isn't ideal.

However, it is going to be a cooler source than the engine bay. I was thinking about putting a half sheild around the side fo teh filter that would be right behind the FMIC.

And since the Greddy fmic takes up the space under the passenger headlight.

I see no where else to put the TID / Filter.

Cardboard mock up....man I hate buying stuff on the road I won't be home for another week...so I gotta buy this stuff blind.

I sort of made up a cylinder that is 5"W 5" long with my USA today to get an idea of size.
