ticking sound

ticking sound

its a tII i noticed a ticking sound when i have the key on acc. under the hood on top of the motor.
it has not messed anything up but i was curious of what this noise is .......................
its bothering me and getting on my nerves when ever i work on the car.
i cant hear it inside the car though

could be the exhaust heat shield. maybe the fan. belts. check for loose guage grounds rattling up against the transmission.

No, I don't think he means the car is running just the key is on. I too have the clicking sound. Sorry though I don't know what it is.. the clicking is electronic sounding though. well.. caused by something electronic.

i have it too. my machanic friends say something around or with the alternator. i dont think it is. but the ticking comes from that area.

but my cars been fine, so its all good. mine shuts off after a couple minutes.

nope take out the egi fuse (the one closest to the engine) and it goes away :-) i know because i hear it when the keys in the ignition but when i pull the fuse (from happening to unflood) it goes away. so im thinking maybe it has something to do witht he fuel injectors?

Well, my car isn't a turbo so it's doesn't have anything to do with a turbo.. There is also a humming-like sound coming from the engine. I'm not to bothered by any of it though.. I did think it was the alternator though.

cant be the alternator, replaced it, still does it. did it even before i changed it.
idk i just wanted to know what it was.
sounds to me like something is broke but it aint
