Cool Thumping sound in rear during breaking..

Decided to pass some slow moving traffic on the way to work this morning ...at about 120mph I was comming up on a traffic light and had to do some hard breaking for long period of time . Now when I break, I hear thumping sound comming from the rear...any thoughts on this...

would do a search if it was working..

thanx..later..

what KIND of thump? speed related? braking only or when you let-off during hard skinny-pedal action?

CW

check your brake pads and all rubber bushings, particularly the rear control arm bushings (outer) and the toe links (inner). and yes, more detail is helpful

It seems to be pressure/speed related. In slow moving traffic..20-30 mph..I dont hear it. It's when moving at faster speeds and having to slow down quicker...pressing harder on the pedal I get a pulsating type thump. The same rhythm..about a thump per second ..and seems to go awys as I slow down and thus let up on the pedal pressure..

Check your brake rotors. They could be out-of-round, making a pulsation. Definately something with the brakes.

Hard braking from 120 could very well warp a rotor or two.
Exact reason why I'm getting 4 piston brakes and a 5 lug conversion next weekend!
