Throttle position % min/max
I'm wondering what percentage the TPS should be reading when completly closed and opened.
My set up is a 88tII with a brand new TPS and RTEK 2.1. The RTEK is reading 4-5% closed and 95% open. This is while the sensor is simply plugged in and not on the throttle guide, also when installed functionaly on the throttle body. Is this normal?
thanks,
jim.

Just to help you understand how the TPS percentage works on the RTEK 2.0........................The maximum Voltage of the TPS is 5vdc. A properly set TPS will output 1vdc to the ECU.............1vdc is 20% of a possible 5vdc. So a properly set TPS on a series four using a RTEK 2.0 will be 20% IF the engine is fully heated up.
The reading will not be 20% if the engine is cold and has the stock water thermowax. It'll read a higher figure than 20% but as the engine fully warms up the percentage will slowly fall to the 20% figure. IF it reads say 21%.......not worth adjusting. Same if it reads 19% ..not worth adjusting.
The TPS plunger is fully extended to its max just at the point where the throttle linkage starts to move the secondarys to open. So there's a lot more movement of the throttle linkage after the RTEK 2.0 reads 100%. If the max it reads is like 98%.....not to worry. Matters not.
Someother fuel controllers will show 0% at idle. Like the SAFC if memory serves. The show 100% at the same point the RTEK 2.0 does.
So if you have a RTEK 2.0 and want to set the TPS, just fully heat the engine up then turn the TPS screw til it reads 20% while you idle the engine. No need for LED lights or ohming out a TPS pot. Waste of time to do those.
