throttle linkage and cd/tape player
first of all, my car idles high now after my clutch job. at first it was idling at 3000 rpms and i thought it was a vacuum leak, but now it looks like its the throttle linkage. if i reach behind the intercooler (now the engine usually idles at 2000 rpms) and turn the linkage cable holder thing i can make the engine idle at 750rpms but i have to turn it really hard and it stays until i press the gas pedal, then i can feel it kinda pop in to place and pulling back on the accelarator pedal does no help, in fact when it was idling at 2000rpms today i disconnected the throttle cable from the bracket and there was plenty of slack in the cable but the idle remained the same. remember at first it was idling at 3000 rpms then i sprayed carb cleaner on the linkage which lowered the idle down to 2000rpms, it goes to 2k rpms every time now. what can be wrong with the linkage? also my tape player nor my cd player work...they are both factory pioneer in my 1988 turbo II, i don't want an aftermarket player, because of style, price, and huh price? what can i do, on my 1st gen i used alcohol to clean the tape player and get it to work, haven't tried that on the fc but i want it to work, especially cd. got any tips? sorry it takes me so long to explain, thanks alot

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Check your MOP linkage as well. If it is bent or touching something it can hold the throttle a little or make it feel like something is sticking on the throttle.
Same thing with the cruise control attachment (although it won't feel like something is sticking, it can hold the RPMs up).

BTW i just installed new ngk platinum plugs, i gained about 20 horsepower seeing as how bad the last ones were, and covered with fuel which sure isn't good.
okay, not 20 hp but like 7hp sounds right.
if my car has terribly leaking fuel injectors (with a fuel pump cut switch), and according to my wet blackish looking sparkplugs (running rich?) how come I don't shoot flames is it because i have an exhaust leak at every gasket? (downpipe, front of main convertor, rear of main covertor, and mufflers?)
