For those of you with GT Spec exhausts

I was curious, what IS the actual diameter of the piping? Is it 2.5" and feeds into 3" or what? Anyone with measurements or pictures? I can't find any true information and online its just diameters for certain applications.

I need a little bit of help! Thanks!

Btw, is it driver side exit? Does it also have a little resonator before the muffler in the y-pipe?

What up dawwwg,

The end that bolts to the M/P is around 80mm, (bolts up to CS M/P) it bends around and might taper a little bit into the resonator. After the resonator I believe it goes back to 80mm before the muffler and tip. I don't know though, I've heard people say it changes diameter several times, but from my looking at it, it looks pretty uniform in diameter...

It is driver's side:

Ah thanks. So it has a resonator after the main cat section? Does it come with a presilencer?

How do YOU like it compared to other exhausts.

It's nice, if overpriced. A friend of mine has a GT spec on his 240. I've never heard it on a 7 but it must be even louder than my old dual N1's...

RB is buzzy in comparison, N1 is raspy in comparison, CS is just louder--whereas the GT spec is the deepest and most melodic in exhaust note... IMO, lol.

It has the resonator. So in theory it should be the quietest.

You're convincing me Erik. I have the Corksport now and as much as I love it. It's just LOUD, espcially when I want to do some spirited driving. I hope the GT-Spec can at least muffle alot of the noises.

I'll most likely get one. Thanks for your help!

Don't get me wrong, the GT spec is still loud, but the CS is significantly louder.

The RB would be the quietest, but it's also the most restrictive (2.375 cat-back).

Are you running stock ports? I ask about the ports because I noticed the change in 'loudness' since I've opened my ports up even more.

Whatever, I think you'd be impressed with the GT spec.

From the video I watched, the basic RE Amemiya Dolphin Tail (700 bucks+, not incuding shipping) sounds *awesome* with stock cats, and it's a full three-inch, single-exit exhaust...

Watch the videos here:

http://www.re-amemiya.co.jp/sound/sound_fc_fd.html (first two videos)

If only they weren't so...Amemiya-tastic (expensive)...

I figured it would be loud. I just want something "duller". I do plan on Karhen streetporting my engine in the near future with Tii exhaust diffusers. So dulling out that sounds now seems like the best bet. I want unrestrictive and mellow. The Corksport just screams when I hit 7k (as shown in my video).

The extra presilencer/resonator I hope kills alot of the sound.

Thanks alot Erik, this is all appreciated.

Alright. I'll probably take a gander. I want the GT Spec due to its sound (it better be like everyone says), lightweight, and simply because its single. I have a Corksport atm and its just really ******* loud, which isn't bad. But since lately I've been talking about getting a streetport with removed exhaust diffusers, sound just became a priority to me.

That and I like the single look and want to keep the weight down (my car is under 2500 and I want it to stay that way).

Why not just buy a Borla XR-1 as a pre-silencer and have it welded into your Corksport? That would be much cheaper than buying a new exhaust...

Er...

I've heard the Borla XR-1 and it doesn't do exactly dull it as much as I want. Either way the Corksport will STILL be loud due to its lack of muffler packing. If I can incorporate a thicker packed muffler and a resonator already into the system it should be fine for what I want.

That and the cost doesn't bother me. I have no reputable welders in the area to get what I want and none of them will touch a car without emissions (as I have NONE).

So I'll get a different cat-back and a new sound (hopefully deeper). That and I usually need everything to be SS (even added parts) or I get weird. Stupid MN salt.
