i didn't have those tubs just speakers with an adapter ring to make them fit the opening. I simply trimmed away about 1/4 inch all the way around the inside of the stock adapter ring and dropped in a 6.5 inch speaker then just remounted the ring and it works and sounds great

I have a pair of 8" memphis 2-ways speakers in my towers, they sound great!. i wasnt sure if they would fit but i wanted them so i just bought them, took them home and they screwed right in. they are not sealed in there but they are full range 8" speakers(hard to find) so they still sound great. and i have a little deaper bass now too.

OK. I am not an expert so I retract my earlier statement about it being a waste.

I will say this. I had a template for the speaker made to go over the hole at the top of the tower. I had excellent fit of my speaker on that template. BUT if I turned up the volume more than half then the speaker bottomed out and popped badly. I know the air presure beneath the cone was not constant and air escaped thru the tower out of the bottom. I dont know how else to explain it. the tower is not sealed.

I installed same speakers in storage bins very easily and they get as loud as I can stand with the bass turned up full. before I had to turn it down into the negative range.

like I already said , may have been a bad install . that is only thing that changed.

one thing to note. if the speakers are full range and on top of the towers will that disperse the sound in a bad way?

I mean that is not a very good location for sound imaging. they fire straight up and into hatch. also almost above ear level.

mine are lower than shoulder level and the sound fires up but it is closer to me and I hear everything loud and clear.

again I am no expert .

The storage bins is not a sealed area either, and even if it was a sealed area, the volume is way too big for a 6 inch speaker, so theer is virtually no sound dampening for the speaker.

Anything on the rear (except for subs, and even that is debatable) is going to ruin staging and imaging, there is no other way around it.

Say- I never said it was sealed. I already said I am not an expert and also said it was probably an install problem .

Instead I just restated my experience with the tower thing. I am not knocking anyone else's use of the tower or anything like that. I am just telling how it went for me.

unless you are in my car then you cant tell me I am wrong about my experience.

I already retract my earlier statement about being a waste. I said it was a install error most likely.

are you from PR or Cuba? btw. my pop is from PR.

I put some 8 inch rockford fosgate punch woofers on my strut towers and they fit perfectly but sounded like complete crap, If someone knows of a comtainer that would fit in to there to kind of seal the air space I think that would help a lot

i used 2 rockford fosgate FREE AIR style 8 in subs. free air is the key, i sprayed the inner walls with Blue Blocker (or use equivanlent) sound deadner and packed with fiber fill. worked for me. sound was a definate step up from stock, but remember they are only 8in subs dont expect eardrum-popping bass! i used them to pick up some nice midbass with a seperate amp and crossover.

unless you can seal off the tower speakers to prevent cone distortion it is a waste. the tower either needs to be sealed or else the speaker needs to go in a container like he did. what is that you used?

just my .02

I totally agree with you....

I put some 8" klipsch speakers in their and no good.

I installed 8" woofers in mine too & it sounded like a$$. So I made an enclosure that kinda looks like spyders: https://www.rx7club.com/interior-exterior-audio-26/post-ur-pics-ur-sucbs-ur-7-a-406185/

spyderI hope you fixed the tweeter angle before these were mounted, and that your image is just a quick shot and not how it is should be.

last thing you would want is a tweeter back there in the first place, but then to fire it into the center of the rear hatch

Yes that was fixed when I actualy screwed them into the mounts. Just a slip of the eye, good catch. They are aimed the other direction .

I have a custom box that I built and have directly behind my 2 seats. I just removied the 2 storage containers behind the seats and formed a custom box to fit in right there. Fits perfect. I have 2 kicker comp vr's powered by a precision power 2 ch. amp. Gives me a throbbing headache if I want it too, but all in all sounds awesome. I also have my two tweeters custom mounted directly above my headrests in my interior roof lining. rockford fosgates all around for other speakers. I would say best sounding system for the price I have seen.

This has been beat alot, this is an ok placement if ya just want loud beats, but for acoustic value and having it sound nice rather than just loud... the placement is not very good
