Those who have removed auxillary port actuators..

Was just wondering if there was a noticable difference in removing all the actuator crap. I already have pineapple sleeves, but still have the actuators on and working properly. I was thinking of removing the actuators, I know I will lose some low end, but you dont race below 4k rpm, so I dont care Also should JB weld be ok to secure the sleeves in, or should I use something else. Wouldnt want something bad happening *cough* RoyJames *cough*.....

I just went ahead and completly removed them. With functioning actuators the car does have a bit more low end which would make it easier to drive daily. But like you said, I dont race shifting at 3-4k so I dont really mind. Ive raced plenty of other FC's with functioning actuators and havent lost as of yet. Power doesnt feel like it drops off........

Don't do that. It's the same as "wiring them open". There Is a reason why they are there. If you choose to remove them, the biggest restriction Is the pins that retain the sleeves In place. Remove those too.

Rob recommends that if you take the actuator rods out use a lock tite or some equivalent of sealer to hold the sleeves in place do not use jb weld

You can use JB weld as long as you use the heavy duty Indsutro Weld version. We used that in my friends 87 GXL without any ill effects even after several months. His car pulls very strongly now well past the redline even. I am impressed with that as part of a total mod package. I would not reccomend doing that as your first change but if you intend to do the whole engine up with evertything possible then go to it.

There will be no gain removing the actuators on an otherwise working system. If you consistantly race (ie. on a track) above 4K and don't care about low end, you may remove them to save the tiny amount of weight. Then either wire tie the actuators open, weld or glue. I don't recommend doing this as the 6 port system works very well in stock form (when it works).

You could use JB weld, but lets hope you dont change your mind. And you are way behind on the "lets crack on charles for trying something new" banwagon. Use locktite like the man says
