Those that have done the s4 to s5 interior swap...

I'm doing mine right now and the a pillars are not snapping in, in the right places is there any trick to getting it to stay?

Are there any other troublespots/advice on putting it in?

Thanks!
Mike

That's not what the question was about but I'm going from a horrid blue interior that the last person completely DESTROYED and cracked.

The black is pretty and matches my new torino seats

Are you swapping the auto seatbelts in also? In the 89+ cars they have extra brackets welded in to accomodate the tracks for the seatbelts.

I did the swap, If you want to keep the manual seatbelts you have to keep the s4, A and B piller inner pieces, head liner, and you have to re-wire the guage cluster for the S5 one to work.

I used the "interior and fabric" paint, it works great.

The s4/s5 Pillar Interior Is no different from each other. Your problem probably exists due to the metal tabs either bent out of whack, thus needing straightening, or the tabs themselves are not snug In the slot that retains It's position.

In the U.S. 86-88 cars had manual seatbelts while the 89+ cars had automatic seatbelts. Canadians lucked out and didn't have to deal with the problems of the auto belts. so silverrotor the interior a and b pillars are different.

In the US they had to have automatic seat belts or an air bag starting in `89. The auto belts mess with the door trim and headliners. If I ever get into an S5 it will not be a US spec car. Auto belts suck!

HAH! seatbelts.

hrm. who needs seatbelts right?
jk

I think i'm just going to get a harness since i've got seats that can handle 4 point harnesses.

I'm proably not even going to re-install the stock seatbelts as they wouldn't match the interior anyway. Good reason to get a rear strutbar to mount some harnesses to

edit: PS: I'm going to keep my s4 gauge cluster will it still fit in the s5 dash? i'm also keeping my s4 idiot lights.

4 points on a daily driver suck as much as the auto belts. You spend lots of time putzing with them when you want to get moving right away. I've also never seen a race harness with inertia locks. Long drives might not be so comfy when you had too much McD's and you're latched to the seat.

Just some things to consider before pitching those belts.

Well yeah that is very true.

However this is not my daily driver. It's my, when i'm angry and need to release some tension (pretty much daily) driver

I don't mind harnesses i've delt with them before, it might **** off my girlfriend tho I kinda like the feeling of being strapped into my car. As long as i can reach the stereo I should be fine.

I had them in one of my cars, they are a bit of a PITA for daily use. You can't turn around to reverse/check your blind spot.
