thinking of chopping up the stock exhaust and creating a monster...
I'm thinking of cutting up the stock exhaust from my 87 na and removing all three (there's three right?) catalytic converters and just putting a straight pipe all the way back from the exhuast manifold...I'm thinking of chopping the dual mufflerthing and just converting it into a single pipe, folding and welding from the start of the y-pipe...
...hmmm, the only thing I'm worried about is affecting the 6 port actuators because aren't these controlled by back pressure?...damn...
...and I am not worried about emissions and noise levels;the louder the better ...try and catch me coppas!...

RB makes a damn good pre-silencer/downpipe combo for about $300. Its one of the only setups out there that will allow the aux ports to operate properly with a free-flowing exhaust. Most only work if there's still a moderate amount of backpressure. Also, there are several good single pipe exhaust setups out there that dont cost a whole lot. If price is an issue, I'm sure you can find them used. I actually found a very good condition Apex N1 pipe on a rx7 at a junk yard a few weeks back.

I wouldn't personally reccomend the Bonez race pipe. It has something to open the aux ports, but it requires backpressure to work. I used to have one on my car with an Apex N1 cat-back, and it wouldnt open them. Also, on the Bonez pipe, the flange that connects to the exhaust manifold was hopelessly warped due to the heat from the exhaust. The RB one is much higher quality materials.

I heard a racing beat dual exit header last night with presilencers and no cat-back. It wasn't too loud. Maybe it just depends on how quiet a person you are.

yeah
alright, I take back all previous statements...
...I just want to know if it will work if I just leave one cat on, probably the one closest to the downpipe, that I will keep enough back pressure to open up the ports..that's it...

I drove for ~10 miles like that on my 87 and it was awesome but damn!! its still louder than I could tollerate. Those RB rear mufflers on the true duals really pull their weight.

I love RB

you got it yet?
I just got mine in the mail. racing beat streetable header, and presilencer.
There is a hole on the presilencer, and one on the headers. what could I use to plug them?
Also what do I use to widen the holes on the headers where the presilencer fits.
