Thinking of buying a 2nd Gen... Help?
Ok, I always told myself I'd keep my beater car until it dies ('86 Corolla GTS- AE86). Well, it leaks oil like the Valdez and the clutch it pretty much shot. A/C's toast and some nice lady sideswiped it about 8 months ago. Today the passenger window motor went out. Seems to me like a good time to sell it to one of you guys to tinker with.
Anyway, I need a new daily driver car. I'd love to have a 2nd Gen RX-7 and I've seen a few advertised around here for about $3-5k. Now my question: what do I look for? Being a piston-only owner, this spinning triangle thingy's not exactly my forte...
Reliability? Are the TII's reliable? What are the known issues? Am I looking at a rebuild every 70k? Would I be better off with an NA? Yeah, I know- lot's 'O questions.... Just trying to make the best choice and you guys seem extremely helpful.
TIA!

Hey I'll take your Hachi, those cars are frickin' rare over here in any condition. You probably want to get an NA since going to a turbo may be a big step from the GT-S but whatever you want to do. You'll have less problems with an NA if you don't mind less power. People who say rotaries aren't reliable don't know how to take care of them, oil changes no more than every 2500 miles and don't get lazy with the maintenance, you should be fine. People fall in love with these cars so they usually take good care of them.
