Thinking about V8 swap: What are the widest rear wheels I can use?

I found this one Rx7 that has been sitting in front of the guy's lawn for almost a year now. It's an 86 base model with a removed engine. So what I am gonna do is swap in a V8 LS1 because the car was headed to the scrapper. What would be the widest tire I can fit on a stock RX7? I'm gonna need it because my brother is giving me his Vortech Supercharger off his Z28 so I'm gonna have close to 400lbs of torque driving through the rear wheels. I don't want to go widebody though and am looking at a 16 or 17 inch size...nothing bigger. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think those tires will fit ok. I wish you would not put in a V8 but I guess. I just love the rotary engine so much but if it means you will save and FC that is better than nothin. Is it going to be a grag car or what?

I would swap in a rotary but that is gonna be a couple thousand... My bro already has a spare LS1 engine and he can weld so it makes the most $$$ sense right now.

What I mean about the tires is what is the largest in width...I'm trying to go as wide as I can.

Oh I don't know about that. But you are going to have to change transmisions and a whole bunch of other stuff aren't you? Where are you able to get a rotary for a G I whant to know that is cheap dude.
About the tire size I think you can do a search on it.

cool. thanks for the link. Last time I came here the search was disabled....guess it works now. About the rotary price: I meant to say a couple grand. I don't think you could find a rotary engine for that cheap unless something was wrong with it.

you could fit a 10" wide rim in the back but there is no point in going biger then 9 cause you can only fit a 255 tire anyways with the stock fenders.
