thinking about streetporting my S4

i know that dre 2000 did a great write up on all of this, but i still feel hesitant about taking something like this on by myself. i dont have the money to get it done anywhere else though. my main question is, what exactly do i take apart, how do i put it back together, and what exactly do i cut? how much is involved with taking the manifold off and everything? i just want to know all the risks and steps needed to streetport an S4. I read the write ups and i kind of understand it, but its still a little fuzzy to me. any help would be appreciated.

I think Dre's write up was on porting the inkate manifold (never done it) Thats not the same thing as a streetport, to do a street port you basicly have to rebuild the whole . Its not hard if you have the right tools & templates but its will be very costly do to the rebuild itself. Check mazdatrix.com FAQ for basic info on streetporting.

Sorry I know very little about the porting of a intake manifold. I don't think the gains would be worth it though unless you already have that part of the car apart for another reason.

wow I have tried to edit this post 3 times. It won't let me add the word "engine" after "you basicly have to rebuild the whole"

Hmm odd.

Yes. Dre's writeup is on porting the intake manifold. An entirely different beast than a street port.

You don't want to street port yourself. As for Intake Manifolds, that can be done without a lot of trouble. Just follow his writeup to the 't' and you'll be fine.
