Thinking about 87 Turbo II on ebay (not running)

Here is the link to it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...item=596648431

I've been looking for another little toy to play around in, and it's real close to me.

My main question... is it worth it???
Opinions/Comments appreciated!!!

Thanx,
Mike

You should take a look at it. It may just be something simple that is keeping the car from running.

I doubt that it would have good compression at 150,000 mi, but it could have been rebuilt once already. If the starter works, you can check the compression.

Here's the normal pricing in my area:
TII with blown engine: $0-800 (yes, some people give them away for free)
TII that runs in OK shape: $1,500-2,000
TII that runs well in good shape: $3,000-4,000

Evil has it right. Go get a compression test on it. Ask if the engine has been replaced. It looks ok. I paid 800 for my TII with a blown engine and 3in turbo back exhaust. If the compression is good/ok, I might pay 1500 for it. Theres no way id pay more than 500 not knowing the compression.

I was talking to that guy via email. He says the previous owner tried pulling the fuse (ie fuel cut) since he though it was flooded. It may still have good compression on the motor and be something simple.

He said it didn't smoke when it quit.

It's near Atlanta, so if your down this way go check it out. Use the "ask seller a question" option within the auction's page to contact the guy.

Unhappy UPDATE:

This thing is a piece!!!!

The pic on EBAY has to be at least 6-9 months old. There was so much crap grown up and over, it wasn't even funny. It even had weeds growing through the cracks of the hood and fender as well as growing inside.

The front wheels were off, the shifter was missing, the center console (radio, a/c, etc) was in shambles, the vents were busted up, the rear compartment needed some parts as well. The interior needs WAY too much to even deal with.

They do have a bunch of other RX7's there (1st & 2nd Gen).... all of them needed work.

I'll just have to keep my eyes open.

Thanks for the replies!
Mike
