throttle body modification???
has anyone here tried removing the double flaps , thermo-wax , and dashpot assembly from a non -turbo rx-7? have any luck with it , problems?? i disconnected the linkage to mine , and wired the double flaps wide open. seemed to free up some low end and midrange torque. makes me wonder how much better it could be if i completly removed the assembly , filled the holes left behind with jb weld , and polished the throttle body bores.

I just hooked my 2 coolant lines together after doing the throttle body mod. The only downside (if you call it one) to this mod is that you have to manually warm the car up. They don't like to idle at 750 RPM when cold. Also, I don't think there's any way to keep the cruise control working after removing that stuff either, so I removed that, too. Weight reduction, right? Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions. My screen name on AIM is NathanRX7.

Downsides - a little ruffer when letting off the throttle or getting on it.
Upsides - Better throttle response, weight reduction, more air flow(maybe a TAD more boost for turbo owners), and it makes removing the throttle body MUCH easier.
