Turbo charging lowers the life of any motor not just rotaries. You are calling a rotary a poor design based on heat output alone? How about the fact that it does not have the 80 moving parts for it to do some useful work? Give the technology some time to mature. There is no way the reciprocating action is superior to orbital. As far as reliability, it is hard to find an 84-85 GSL-SE that dies under 225K miles. My se has 182K miles as we speak and it happily revs to redline everyday. How many piton engines with 200K miles take you to 120 mph without throwing a rod?

As long as the car is well maintained....

no turbo = very reliable(maybe even on par with honda's)

turbo= less reliable

biggest issue with NA's is to check the oil frequently...

I beat the tar out of 3 FC's.... and they never failed....
