I guess I wasn't as clear on that as I needed to be. The bar is not flat it is almost convex on both the top and bottom.

so as shown in my picture you must put the wider section at an angle that matches the hood or fenders.

This will put it at an almost 45-50 degree angle to the alt and engine (again as shown in my picture).

If you try and mount the bar so it is parrallel to the engine/alt the bar will hit the alt.

If you try and mount it in front of the engine and straight up and down, again it will hit.
