they look fine to me... How many miles are on them? Also, is there any pitting that you can (to beat a dead horse) catch a fingernail in?

What rebuild kit parts did you choose to go with?

good work, dude.

Any weird grooves?
There looks like some weird grooving right above the exhaust port, but photos can be deceiving...

I'd call them an 8 - 9 out of 10.
Those are some really nice housings.
33k sounds about right.
NA, right?
They can't have more than 50k miles on them.
86 - 88 NA, right?

Those are some of the cleanest Zenki NA housings I've ever seen.
Where did you find this motor???

That milky white surface is the surface coating that Mazda puts on brand new housings.
Really worn housings get all shiny.
The milky white coating surface is actually better!

I wouldn't worry about the chatter marks.
It looks like the engine wasn't even broken in yet!

Be sure to lay the housings down and
put a straight edge across the housings
to check for ANY warpage.

Yes, those are about 9/10 housings...just the beginnings of chrome flaking. Those are perfect for any rebuild. You usually don't have housings in near that condition available.

sorry 4 the highjack too!

i also want to rebuild my engine!

i have know 168.000 km on the engine, she runs fine, but i don't want do risk a broken apex and a scratched housing!
so i want to do a rebuild on it in the next time... you think the housings will be ok? (enough oil everytime, never overheated, never pushed cold etc.)

Does anyone have experience with those coatings? Are they for race use only (IE: they flake off after a while, or reduce apex seal life, or something else?)

Who recommended to do that?
Just get rid of all the dark crud deposits using a strong cleaner and don't be scratching the surfaces up!
