One more thought is that if in your current experience the NTC is the only way to go, you should have a group buy.

Thanks!
i havent used the stant/oem one (the pic above is an s5/fd part, s4 is different) in one of mine

we used to hear bad things all the time about the stants, they just never worked as well as the oem ntc. aftermarket parts were a big no no in the 90's, now you can usually find the OEM part. this might not mean much now, but you used to be able to buy "dead" engine cars that just needed the NEW autolite spark plugs thrown away and replaced with ngk's, and things like that.

or here's another one, we used to sell the k2rd radiator with a new stant radiator cap, we had to buy like 3-5 caps to get a good one. the springs were totally junk.

i haven't heard anything bad about the new oem/stant part, but its not exactly a hot seller either, and due to past experience i wouldn't put one in any car that i worked on.

When I got a new thermostat recently from the dealership, it turned out to be a motorad brand one. I searched about it and heard not so great things just like with the stant but most of those were out of dealer purchases so I decided just to try it. It turned out fine so I'm just assuming it was because those ones bought at parts stores didn't have the jiggle pin designed into them before like they are now. When I look at the new stant and motorads they both have the jiggle pin now so I guess they probably realized what the problem with their product was and finally fixed it.
