Angry Thermo Reactor Heat Shield Rattles constantly, any fix or ideas?

My heat shield on my thermo reactor is constantly rattling and is very annoying, how can i fix it? I was thinking about putting a couple screws threw it and into the thermo reactor, but was concerned with how thick the thermo reactor is. Anyone have this problem?

Yes.
Annoying rattle at ~1000 rpm. I drilled a small hole in the top edge of the shield, close to the middle of the shield's length. It's tricky getting a drill there; I managed to get at it by going in front of the hose going to the ACV.

Then I put a small S hook in the hole, connected a thin 5inch long spring to it, and connected that to the slot in the motor mount below. The spring pulls a constant pressure down on the shield, and no vibration! Nice easy fix. Just make sure you get a good quality spring, not one of those junky ones that stay stretched when you pull on it.

Your problem sounds similar. If the noise stops now when you press down on the shield, this should work for you too.

you mean the Cat? Series 4 and 5 cars didn't have a thermal reactor that I am aware of

Its very common to have the heat sheild crack and break at the cat, replace the sheild or pop rivet new attachment tabs for the exhasut screws

I think thermal reactor=exhaust manifold in this case. And the rattling nuisance I fixed was the heat shield that's attached to the right side of the engine.

Jack up your Rx7, go underneath and take some WD-40 and soak the 2 10mm bolts that suppose to hold the heat shield but no longer are. After they are soaked for about 5 minutes go and try to take them off the exhaust manifold, at this point go to your local hardware store and find a one inch flat washer and run the 10mm bolts back to your manifold with the big washers, the large washer will hold the shield into the manifold, with the stock bolts..
