Welcome Amy! You should post pictures OF YOUR CAR in the picture thread at the top of this section. Don't get scared off by the sausage fest.

Only Vert hard tops that have ever been done have been one off custom jobs. They didn't look all that good either.
I've seen the one with the vents and "Fiero-esque" sides. Forgot who made it though. That's not what I mean. I mean having a slightly curved back window that's recessed a bit. Kinda like an El Camino, not to sound redneck or anything.

There is a thread or two every spring on this...
At least on the thread a couple of weeks ago there were pics that pretty much shut everyone up with the 'Oh, that would be so cool!' nonsense. Fugley is as fugley does.

I honestly never understood why anyone wants to put a hard top on the only convertible on earth that has a... hard top. It's a convertible, people. And it already has a hard top.

Having not owned a convertible for like 8 years (I live in oregon.. there's no point... unless there were hard tops)... I can't really tell what the seal areas look like... but, considering the top is a frame, probably tube frame... and the targa top which I'm not sure what that is made of... but.. When you shut the doors, everything flexes. If the seals wear out, it leaks sooner. On a coupe, nothing flexes, so the seals don't have to be as-new for everything to seal. Coupe's doors DO leak eventually... it just takes longer because of the lower tolerances needed.
If the top didn't flex, like a hard top wouldn't, I would imagine the seals on the door frames would seal TONS better.
You could also have a bigger rear window.... with defroster (I can't remember if the verts had defrosters in theirs)

Yea I have an S4 vert and it has the defrosters, Mines almost 20 years old and the top is still going strong, I almost wish I had a coupe for the winters and such, but i bought a beater for the winter times and those nice days with the top down make happy with the vert..
I dont know why people would want a hard top for the vert when you could just buy a coupe......

If you put tons of money into your vert.... and don't want to do it all over again with another car.. I'd say it would be a damn good option.
"Just buy a coupe" is a great option for people with enough money to do so. But, a hard top would make an already fun to drive car even more practical.
If I had a vert, I would want one. I probably couldn't afford one, but I would still want one.

Someone should make a retractable hardtop for the Vert like the Benz SL series has. That would be pimperrific, but FC owners are definately way too cheap to get something like that.
