Question Is there a diference between housings?

Is there a diference between the front rotor housing and the rear rotor housing? Or will any one work in any position (front in rear an vice.)? Is for an 89 N/A 13B

they are interchangable as long as u have a 86-88 with another 86-88 housing and a 89-91 with another 89-91 housing

Im sure that they are interchangable but i just put a motor together and saw that they have f and r for front and rear so there might be a very small difference.

I have 2 S4 housings and they are from different production lines.

The traling and leading spark plug holes dont lign up, So just check that before anything.

The housings are not the same front to rear. They are exactly the same castings, but, have the port for air injection drilled in opposit locations. This only matters if you plan on using pollution control. If not. They are interchangable.

Also used housings will have grooves from the apex seal triangle assist piece.
If you flip the rotor housings around, you move the groove to the other side - not recommended.
